abscess Under a abscess one understands an encapsulated pus accumulation in the tissue of the human or animal body.

The triggers are mostly bacteria like staphylococci, streptococci or parasites and amoebas that invade the tissue.

A cavity forms where pus accumulates. The pus consists of dead tissue, dead immune cells, and bacterial debris.

A distinction is made between cold and hot Abscesses.

Cold and hot abscesses:

A hot abscess results from an acute infection.
Typical signs of inflammation appear in the affected area.

A cold abscess is caused by a chronic infection such as tuberculosis. Compared to the hot abscess, there are no acute inflammatory signs here.

The abscesses can form anywhere in the body. The skin (epidermis, dermis and subcutis) is most frequently affected, as it can be easily attacked by pathogens. Abscesses can also arise as a result of a cut, an animal bite or as a result of invasive surgery.

People with weakened immune systems are more prone to having an abscess.
In a healthy person, the immune system removes the dead body cells and pathogens.
